Who I am: I am a born, raised and stayed New Yorker who loves to obsess. Long standing obsessions include vintage urban portraiture, sudden fiction, screenwriting, Edward Gorey and Roz Chast, Andy Warhol, onions, garlic and dog nose.

In my camera bag: an iPhone, a brass pen from Japan and a teeny weeny notebook.

I dial in from the greatest city in the world.

My Uncle lived in a Wisconsin town that had about 300 people and most of them were Amish. When my husband and I visited one summer, we saw a sign on a dirt road...Eggs. So we turned into the driveway and the sound of the gravel brought these Amish kids out of the barn. They just stood in the driveway and stared at us. I took the photo through the windshield because I needed to capture what looked like a film still. That stern little girl with the humorless hair bun just blew me away.

A photo I feel best represents my visual voice

Everything I love about photography lives in this image taken on the 6 train. There is nothing more important than story, and people reveal so much about their inner lives as they catapult through dark tunnels. This man's story is rich, and his level of exhaustion was really compelling to me.

On Photo Jam: Photo Jam is genius. Full stop. Not only is the program innovative and impeccably designed -- you learn, you think, you marvel -- but you have the opportunity to spend time with like minded people. People who share their art and thoughtfully respond to yours. Photo Jam gave me an audience and a playground where I can grow as a photographer.
